James is a retired teacher, who graduated in 1964 from Abilene Christian University. He married his wife Annette on December 28, 1970. Annette is also a retired teacher, graduating from Texas State University, she now substitute teaches for the schools in Lampasas. The couple lived in Pearsall, Texas, before moving to Lampasas where they have been members at First Street since 1986. They have two children, Rhett Herron and Prellen Herron, and two grandchildren, Libby & Aleigh. James finds much interest in learning about history and obtaining objects of various historical time periods. He has been an elder for the congregation at First Street since 1991. Missions and Benevolence are the two ministries where he focuses his shepherding. James also serves as the custodian for the church building.
